This short book is an imaginary meeting with me and atheist Bill Maher sitting in his comfortable living room. In an effort to defend my position, I attempt to take Bill into a world he knows nothing about. It’s a bit of a deep dive into what I have learned over my eighty years in this troubled world. I intend to flip the script and invite the unbeliever into a thought process they perhaps have never engaged in. Welcome aboard to a very bumpy ride for both sides.
Within the first few pages of the Bible, God promises that Christmas is coming, and with it a Redeemer who will reconcile humanity to its Creator. The rest of the Old Testament describes how God kept that promise. Each of the narratives is a link in a chain that reaches from Eden to Bethlehem, telling the story of a war that was fought because somebody had to save Christmas.
It has been Pastor Mike’s custom over the years to sum up his sermons with short statements that he calls “taglines. These taglines reveal how he views life, people, ministry, wisdom, the world, pride, humility, preaching, judging, the gospel, money, the church, relationships, and a whole lot more. He uses them as reminders of how to navigate life in a world that is contrary to kingdom living. These are windows into his soul, and they just might be windows into yours as well.
